Where CalXd fits
CalXd is a calorie tracking app for people who lift and want to hit their calorie and macro targets every day. Type "200 g chicken breast with 100 g rice" and CalXd estimates calories, protein, fats and carbs. You can also take a photo, record your voice or scan a barcode.
At most once every 7 days, CalXd reads your weight trend over the last 3 weeks. When there is enough data, it suggests a new calorie target and you decide whether to apply it. The first suggestion comes no earlier than 4 weeks into a goal, and there is none while you use a target you set by hand.
Your weight shows on a chart with a 7-day average line. You can export your weight and meal history as CSV. CalXd shows no ads, and the app is in English and Polish.
- There is no free plan: the download is free, but using the app needs Pro or the App Store trial.
- It runs on iPhone only. There is no Android app and no web app.
- There is no food database to browse and no food search.
- There are no recipes, no meal plans and no community.
Where MyFitnessPal fits
Every MyFitnessPal fact in this section: checked October 2026.
MyFitnessPal has a free plan: you log food and exercise, create your own foods, meals and recipes, see your macronutrients and set goals by percentage. If you want to count calories without paying and you search foods in a database, MyFitnessPal offers that and CalXd does not (checked October 2026).
MyFitnessPal says its database holds over 18 million foods, restaurant dishes included. Its community builds it, so newer or regional products are sometimes missing and you add them yourself from the label.
MyFitnessPal runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Wear OS and the web, with your data synced between them. It has community forums. With Apple Health it sends your meals, takes in exercise and sleep, and syncs weight both ways.
If your phone is set to another language: Meal Scan and Voice Log work only in Premium and only with the app switched to English. On an iPhone you change that in Settings, Apps, MyFitnessPal, Language. The barcode scanner has also needed Premium since 1 October 2022.
